A short report from an ongoing study:
Marina Strocchi – A Survey 1992-2014 from Marina Strocchi on Vimeo.
I think the art of the Australian painter Marina Strocchi makes a wonderful addition to my library of artists making great marks. Marina Strocchi’s works incorporate the dynamic ‘Roar’ collective aesthetic, indigenous landscape influences and rural Australian narratives. She has also just recently made a marvelous New York inspired series of paintings.
Her paintings have a kind of naive printmaking quality which I really like. Looking at her paintings one immediately notice a sense of a particular space & place, but at the same time they also have a kind of archetypical quality, like fairytales, speaking to us all where ever we are situated.
