Failed attempt

A few weeks ago I tried out a new palette; payne’s grey, raw umber, raw sienna, white & sanguine. It was all very well matched and elegant, almost sophisticated.

But it wasn’t me. If “Art (as according to Jerry Saltz) is a way of showing the outside world what your inside world is like.” This really wasn’t even close. I have no idea whose world this could be, but it surely isn’t mine.

And so there was nothing else to do than to start all over –

Idiosyncratic colours? How do one know such things?

Color is a universal eternal language. It is a multiverse unto itself. Color is the String Theory of art. Universal — but also … extremely personal.

I know it’s wishy-washy; but there you go – what can I say …

You made me smile. And it all makes sense – the original palette is gorgeous and sophisticated but as you said, not you. And perhaps better suited to an office interior than a painting. 😉 I love what you did after that. The canvases on the upper and lower right are my favorites. Lower middle, too.

Just have to say it as it is – gorgeous and sophisticated is not me 😭😅 Thank you!
