I think you might call them floats! These things hanging on the side of the boat, or holding up a net when fishing? Here old ones are used for fun in a skate park.
I came across your blog via Emily Rhodes, where I had just been reading her books of the year, and replying with my own. I am at this moment finishing a wonderful, funny crime novel by Alan Bradley called the Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. Part of the plot involves someone who arrives in England from Stravanger – somewhere I hadn’t heard of til now. Seeing your beautiful photographs of this very place pop up on my screen is a most extraordinary concidence which sent shivers down my spine!
Sigrun,
These are colourful photos, despite a grey sky. Interesting perspectives.
It struck me too, how colorful the boats are.
I’m curious–what are the red balls for?
