hiking Cinque Terre

I’m having an early autumn vacation – my plan is to visit Cinque Terre, Pisa & Lucca. The Cinque Terre (Five Lands) is a string of five fishing villages perched high on the Italian Riviera. I’ve never visited this part of Italy before, but from the images I’ve seen (like these snatched from Wikipedia) it looks extremely  picturesque.

Hiking Cinque Terre, thinking of Yoko Ono, Nietzsche and what ever else enters my mind … sounds like a good plan, doesn’t it?

The best way to see the villages is on the boat that travels to the towns. You can also take a train from village to village.

Hi Sigrun, as you may know, I just returned from Germany and Italy, including a stay in Pisa, and days trips to Lucca, and Rome. I am now kicking myself that we didn’t get a chance to see the Cinque Terra or Lago di Como or Lago di Garda! But, I must say, out of all of the places I did vistit, Lucca to me was the most refreshing, the Cinque Terra notwithstanding. Have a fabulous trip, and post photos! I wasn’t able to keep up with posting photos, but may go back and post some now….Enjoy yourself!

Oh, and, we also went to Florence. Don’t get me wrong – Pisa, Florence, and Rome, are all wonderful, but maybe because it was my last day in Italy, I really enjoyed Lucca. I so want to return! Have a great trip. Carla

I know what you mean…! I found Pisa a bit shocking at first, but then, you get used to it….! Liguria sounds/looks wonderful! I want to go back to spend more time at the coast! Maybe next year…So great to see your photos.

  7. Oh, too lovely for words!
