When I was a teen, Beckett opened my eyes to the infinite possibilities of art.
I did my thesis on him 12 years ago – I can still hear his voice in my ear, its like no other.
We did a performance of Waiting for Godot when I was in high school. One of my classmates to this day (25+ years later) still remembers my performance (I don’t), saying he couldn’t believe how into character I was. I’m not sure why, but I suspect it’s that Beckett brings something out in my imagination! I admire that you did your thesis on him!
Wow – Would have liked to se you perform!
I hope one day to find time to write on him again. I think he is one of the very few one can spend a whole life reading. Definitively my ‘deserted island’ reading!
yes, I imagine he would be! btw, I don’t think the performance was really that great, just memorable somehow…
