My area of interest – when talking about art – is first and foremost the contemporary art scene, but I must admit I have this weakness for Floral still life, as made by the Dutch in the 1600s. What really thrills me is when these two, the contemporary and the golden age, collide, as seen in the work of Heikki Marila, and also in the work of Ori Gersht
OrI GERSHT, STILL FROM BIG BANG, 2006
I guess one can say that Marila and Gerscht are stealing, just as Maggie Nelson do, making their own weird stew of the stolen goods: nanos gigantum humeris insidentes.
Many pieces of art could be improved by being blown up like that. Thanks.
